My Cul-De-Sac Defense Plan

Updated: Oct 10

Successful hair loss reversal
This is what hair loss reversal looks like

I have been waging this terrible war against the one they call the "Norwood Reaper" for over 4 years now.

I have won many battles, but the war wages on. Below you will find everything I do and everything I use to wage this terrible war.

My Cul-De-Sac Defense Plan

I perform the following steps daily as part of my "cul-de-sac defense plan." Androgenetic alopecia and the Norwood Reaper will never let up.

I even have a dedicated hair loss defense budget dedicated to promoting hair growth.

Let’s get this out of the way. The following information is not medical advice. The following information is strictly for informational and educational purposes only.

I complete the following tasks in their listed order below.

Exfoliate The Scalp With A Massage Brush

Calcification of the scalp occurs when the scalp absorbs too much calcium or magnesium. The absorption of these minerals can cause blood vessels in the scalp to become blocked.

Hair brush massage
This is the brush I use to exfoliate.

Blocked blood vessels mean less blood flow in the scalp. Less blood flow in the scalp leads to nutrient deficiencies and an overall negative impact on hair health.

To counteract the calcification, I use a brush to aggressively exfoliate my scalp every evening before I shower. This may seem counterintuitive, but it has worked well for me to achieve healthy hair.

The idea is to avoid allowing the scalp to become laminated and shiny, like the guys who have been bald for a long time.

If I brush my head in good light, I can see white crap and hair flying off my scalp. This is what I want. We are thatching the lawn boys.

It is difficult to cause any damage or pain with the brush I use.

Initially, I was worried so much hair was falling out because of the brushing, but if it was going to fall out that easily it was done for anyway.

It feels quite nice on the scalp! I brush for a few minutes working my scalp in all kinds of directions. The scalp should feel "warm" after brushing. I am ready to shower.

Take An Evening Shower

I shower every evening once I have exfoliated my scalp, and I know I am finished with any physical exertion for the day.

Showering in the evening prepares my hair and scalp for the application of my hair loss products.

Shampoo Hair and Scalp with a Ketoconazole Shampoo

Ketoconazole is thought to be effective in lowering DHT levels in the scalp and may help slow hair loss.

While showering, I begin by pre-washing my hair and scalp with a sulfate-free shampoo. I stay away from any shampoos with sulfate or harsh chemicals. Regenepure NT is a good one for pre-wash but any sulfate-free shampoo should be fine.

Pre-washing the hair and scalp will allow the Ketoconazole shampoo to work more effectively once applied.

After pre-washing my hair, I apply a small amount of ketoconazole shampoo and lather it into my hair and scalp. I use my fingertips to gently agitate the scalp while lathering the shampoo into my hair.

I use Regenepure DR ketoconazole shampoo as it is sulfate-free, but there are many other ketoconazole shampoos available, varying in price.

I allow the ketoconazole shampoo to dwell on my scalp for five minutes before rinsing it off.

Rinse Hair And Scalp With Filtered or Distilled Water

Once the ketoconazole shampoo has dwelled for five minutes, I rinse my hair and scalp in the shower then with filtered water I have ready in a BPA free jug like this one. Bottled or distilled water is also ok.

under sink water filter
The under-sink water filter we installed in our home.

The idea is to rinse the scalp with water free of minerals like calcium and heavy metals.

I have zero data to support the benefits of rinsing with filtered water, but I do it daily.

In my opinion, the minerals and metals in hard water (tap water) cannot be good for the scalp.

Check out what the DOH of my state of WA has to say about drinking water.

If you are rich, you can invest in a whole-house water filtration system. I am not rich, so I use the gallon jug

If you don’t have a water filter, I would highly encourage you to get one. I installed this one in our home.

I don’t encourage the consumption of unfiltered tap water.

Application of RU58841

RU58841 and a measured dropper.

After I shower, I blow dry my hair and scalp on medium heat. Once my scalp is thoroughly dried, I apply RU58841 to my scalp using a measured dropper.

I allow the RU58841 to fully dry before going to bed.

Get Sunlight and Vitamin D

Sunlight for hair growth

Sunlight and Vitamin D, in particular, are essential for hair growth. The best source of Vitamin D is the sun. Most Americans are Vitamin D deficient. No wonder everyone is going bald.

I try to get at least 20 minutes of sunlight every day, although that is extremely challenging in my state of Washington.

I go for a walk with my dog or do some work outside when the sun is out.

Hair Loss Prevention Only Works With Consistency

Hair loss reversal
The results of being consistent and disciplined.

That’s it. This is what I have been doing for over 3 years to avoid a hair transplant.

I achieved the results in the photo above after about a year and six months. Since then I have added Minoxidil into my hair loss routine.

I would like to hold on to what hair I have left for as long as possible. For this reason, I maintain an impeccable track record in completing my daily hair loss regime.

I am a highly disciplined person. I need to make that clear.

None of this stuff will work without the main ingredient: consistency.

Good luck!
